Euphoria Case Study

Because I had complete control over this film, I chose to step outside of my comfort zone and create an opening sequence consisting solely of body shots and extreme close-ups of facial characteristics. I feel this will generate a suspenseful meaning and entice my intended audience to want to see more of my film. The project I'm working on was inspired by HBO's hit series Euphoria. I've only seen a few episodes of this show, but it's quite graphic in ways I can't explain; nonetheless, I really admire how the directors established meaning in this film; it was quite dramatic and suspenseful.

The Euphoria Case Study

According to movieweb.com, Euphoria is aimed at youths aged 17 and up, according to the show's creator, Sam Levison. Because a 17-year-old has had quite different experiences than a 14-year-old, you may display more explicit content and yet communicate your point effectively. The hit series Euphoria focuses on drug usage, nudity, violence, and a common teenage life crisis. Moreover, because the show highlights the bad and "the good inside the bad" of being a teenager, one could assume that teenagers would relate more and connect to the plot of the series.

According to filmmmyrating.com the tv show euphoria is rated TV-MA , this refers to television for mature audiences. Because of this children under 17 aren't supposed to be watching this series. Sam Levinson's teen drama Euphoria was released in June 2019. It stars Zendaya as Rue, the main character. She is also recognized for her roles in the Disney popular shows "Shake It Up" as Rocky and "KC Undercover" as KC. Zendaya is a well-known actress who has appeared in a variety of media including films, music, and fashion. Her prominence helped the film series gain a lot of traction, and her background and history helped with the show's commercial representation. Euphoria also stars Jacob Elordi (from "The Kissing Booth") and Eric Dane (from "Grey's Anatomy"). These prominent figures where essential to the representation of the film to its intended audience, because these are films most teenagers grew up with and they would be familiar with the actors.

According to, TheThings.com, the first season alone of Euphoria cost $165 million to make, with each episodes budget being at $11 million. According to  Dilynewscatcher.com, Zendaya, who plays rue makes $500k, Hunter Schafer, who plays Jules Vaughn makes $300k, Sydney Sweeney, Who plays Cassie makes $300k, Jacob Elordi, who plays Nate Jacobs makes $200k, Storm Reid, who plays Gia makes $200k, Alexa Demie, who plays Maddy makes $250k, Barbie Ferreira, who plays Kat Hernandez makes $250k, Maude Apatow, who play Lexi Howard makes $200k, Angus cloud, who plays Fezco makes 250k & Algee Smith, who plays Chris McKay makes $250k. In retrospect for the entire second season of the series the main cast members all made form $200k to $500k. Variety.com states, According to HBO, "Euphoria" Season 2 episodes are currently averaging 16.3 million viewers, which is the best performance for any season of an HBO series in the last eight years, other than "Game of Thrones," which averaged 46 million viewers during its eighth and final season in 2019. According to Thecoldwire.com, a general estimate of ad earnings amounts to $1 per watcher in the television sector. That means the network earns $16.3 million if 16.3 million people watch the episode.

According to imbd.com, the production companies for "Euphoria" are:

 - A24

- Home Box Office (HBO)

- Little Lamb

- The Reasonable Bunch

Continuing my research on Imdb lists, it showed that Euphoria has 7 distributors. My analysis showed that 4 of those distributors were (HBO) and that left me to question why, but it seems that these are HBO distribution companies based in different parts of the world. for instance, HBO Spain, USA & Argentina, however companies such as amazon distribute globally.

Imdb.com states the distributors for "Euphoria" are:

Home Box Office (HBO) (2019) (USA) (TV)

FINAL PRODUCTION!

Finally, after all that long work I can present to you my film opening, "SERTONIN"... Enjoy

Editing in film making

According to infoplease.com, editing impacts the rate, and thus the atmosphere, of a film in three ways: The length of a shot is determined by the editor. In general, the slower the pace, the longer the shot duration. What goes into and out of a sequence is up to the editor. Editors make judgments such as transitions, editing and splicing scenes, arranging shots and scenes, and determining what additional modifications should be done to the scenes after they have been filmed, such as lighting, adding more music and sound, and adding text.
